Richard Dey

Richard Dey is an award winning actor and musician from Wellington. A graduate of VUW in Theatre & Film he has made an indelible mark on the local theatre landscape. Richard has twice been nominated for Best Actor at The Chappmann Tripp Theatre awards, in 2012 for All My Sons and in 2014 for Constellations. He is a company member of SiteSpecific Theatre New Zealand which was responsible for the highly acclaimed Salon, which he helped devise, Hotel and Cafe. The company has received critical acclaim for its unique style, as audiences are invited to watch the action take place in real environments outside a conventional theatre. Most recently Richard has appeared in Midsummer; a play with songs, the NZ premiere of Nick Payne’s acclaimed play Constellations and The Pitmen Painters. His screen credits include Consent: The Louise Nicholas Story, War News, Tangiwai, and working alongside his favourite All Black, the original skux Ma’a Nonu, shooting an advert for the World Cup 2015. Richard is also a senior Acting tutor for the NZ College of Performing Arts Stage and Screen programme. Richard has various tattoos and loves ping pong. 

With Trick of the Light he performed in The Devil’s Half-Acre and was fight choreographer for Broken River and The Engine Room.
